Job summary
We are seeking a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in diagnostic GI/HPB imaging to join the existing cohesive team of 7 WTE consultant GI radiologists. This is a post to replace retirement and to support the growing needs of faster diagnosis standards and improve turnaround times, while delivering comprehensive diagnostic HPB/GI and general radiology services to West London.
Diagnostic work would include imaging interpretation for tertiary level regional hepatology and hepatobiliary MDTs in particular, alongside the full range of complex upper and lower GI surgery. Imperial is also a major trauma and renal transplant centre.
Sessions in acute reporting, general and sub-specialist reporting, fluoroscopy and ultrasound (general and specialist) will be expected, as is participation in out of hours reporting to support the trainees providing on call services.
Main duties of the job
Specific departmental services requiring support:
Benign and malignant hepatopancreaticobiliary MDTs.
CT Colonography.
GI and general abdominopelvic fluoroscopic procedures
Specialist ultrasound - ideally including procedural (biopsy/drainage) and contrast-enhanced skill-sets.
Trauma and acute cross sectional imaging and cancer follow up reporting.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute several sessions to the general work of the
department, including duty "hot desk" reporting, general CT, MRI, US and plain radiographs. Part of this will take the form of an extended day performing a general US list or acute cross sectional reporting session.
During 2 sessions of SPA time, the postholder will be expected to contribute to the management, training and research activities of the department. The post will also contribute to the support of reporting radiographers.
The trust has a mature remote working infrastructure, resulting in the potential to work an agreed, but limited number of sessions of the job plan from home.
