Job summary

This is a substantive full-time Consultant Head and Neck Radiologist post based at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will work at two of the three main hospitals in the Trust; St Mary's, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals. The job has been created due to expansion of the service. The appointment offers an opportunity to join an established team consisting of four Head and Neck Radiologists, with sessional support from other members of the radiology/ neuroradiology team. Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is a large Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck, Thyroid, Skull Base and Ophthalmology centre with multiple subspecialist clinicians. This is a large, expanding Radiology Department with over 100 Consultant Radiologists. The department has close ties with Imperial College London which offers a wealth of research and teaching opportunities, and has recently been awarded a £1bn Kings Fund for the development of AI in healthcare.

As well as carrying out all aspects of head and neck imaging, the successful candidate would contribute to the general work in the department.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have completed formal training in Head and Neck Radiology, and will have experience in H&N ultrasound, including fine needle aspiration and biopsy procedures, and all aspects of H&N cross-sectional imaging and plain film reporting. An interest in salivary intervention and /or trauma imaging would be encouraged and accommodated. The post-holder will contribute to several benign and cancer MDTs.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is a Major Trauma Centre. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the general work of the department which includes the provision of 7-day consultant led reporting service. The Trust provides consultant level support for inpatient and acute imaging between 5-8pm which will be included on one weekday evening on a rotational basis as part of the candidate's job plan. The candidate will also be expected to join the consultant roster on a weekend report checking service equating to 2-3 days / year of 9hrs on each day, which will be remunerated via TOIL (time off in lieu) or sessional pay.

An interest in training and research is strongly encouraged in accordance with the strategic aims of the Academic Health Sciences Centre.

The applicants must hold their CCT in Radiology or be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within 6 months of being granted a CCT. Candidates who wish to work only part-time are encouraged to apply, as are applicants interested in job-sharing.
