The successful candidate will have completed formal training in MSK and major trauma radiology and will have experience in all aspects of MSK and general cross-sectional imaging.

Rapid access and the safe and efficient reporting of inpatient and emergency workload are key priorities, and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the general work of the department, including plain film and CT reporting, which is delivered by a large consultant team across 7 days, and includes a day time duty rota, scheduled but infrequent and flexible sessions at weekends and extended weekdays. The post holder will also be expected to deliver regular evening sessions as part of the job plan.

The sites of work will be Charing Cross Hospital, St Mary's and Hammersmith Hospitals. The major trauma service is based on the St. Mary's Hospital campus.

In line with the stature and ambition of the Academic Health Sciences Centre, the successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution to training and, if appropriate, research, as well as working with the Divisional and Directorate management team to help manage and improve the service effectively.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have completed formal training in general radiology and will have experience in MSK and major trauma imaging. Approximately 60% of their time will be dedicated to MSK subspecialty work including ultrasound, all aspects of cross-sectional imaging, image guided procedures, MDTs and plain film reporting.

The appointee will also be expected to contribute to the general work in the department, including duty "hot desk" reporting, general CT, MRI, US and plain radiographs, and part of this will take the form of an extended day to regularly provide consultant presence in the early evening.

During the 2 allocated SPAs, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the management, training and research activities of the department. The post will also contribute to the training of sonographers.

The post is predominantly based at St Mary's, Charing Cross and Hammersmith hospitals.
