Job summary
The Trust is in the process of expanding structural heart disease services with a 6th catheter laboratory. It has a broad interventional cardiology portfolio including complex coronary intervention, TAVI, MitraClip, Triclip, paravalvular leak closure and CTO programs in addition to a busy primary angioplasty service and a cardiogenic shock service.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the several active research programs within the department.
The post-holder will have 4 half day sessions in the cardiac catheter laboratory covering elective and non-elective patient cases.
This is a full-time (10 PA) 12 month locum Consultant Cardiologist post, based primarily at Hammersmith Hospital but with cross-site within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
Main duties of the job
A key role of this post will be to leverage Consultant-led care to support the current structural heart disease and interventional service but the appointee will have the opportunity to take on a service development role and lead on (or contribute to) a number of areas, including new interventional therapies, optimisation of existing pathways and development of new service lines. There is ample opportunity for an interested applicant to lead and develop other relevant structural heart disease areas depending on particular interest.
