Job summary
These are two 10PA substantive posts providing Consultant Renal care at Hammersmith Hospital - in combination with either Ealing Hospital or Central Middlesex Hospital. This model of care delivers seamless collaborative Renal care across NWL and both organisations (Imperial College Healthcare and London North West).
The Renal Directorate at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust provides full nephrology, dialysis and transplant services to NW London and for patients from elsewhere by tertiary referral. The Directorate has 72 inpatient beds at the Hammersmith Hospital, including a 9-bed HDU allowing admissions for acute transplantation. There is also an 18-bed day-case facility open 5 days a week. The unit performs on average 160 kidney transplants per year and 12 simultaneous kidney/pancreas per year.
Main duties of the job
These are two 10PA substantive Consultant posts based both at Hammersmith and at either Ealing or Central Middlesex Hospitals. Duties include satellite haemodialysis clinic; nephrology clinic, ward in-reach, transplant clinic, and procedures (kidney biopsies or tesio line insertions). Oncall rota for both posts is based at Hammersmith hospital at a frequency of 1in10 weeks.

- Daily morning ward round (8.15am 10.30am) and evening board round (5.30-6.30pm)
- Review of emergency presentations
- Telephone calls for all transplant offers in collaboration with transplant surgical team only when on call for HDU ward.
