CONSULTANT IN INTENSIVE CARE - ST MARY'S HOSPITAL

We are looking for enthusiastic colleagues to join our friendly team of consultants.

St Mary's is a dynamic, exciting ICU with 32 well-equipped beds and plans for long term expansion. Our unit was rated "Good" by the CQC in 2019, and has achieved very positive feedback in peer reviews. Everyone contributes and is open-minded, and the opinions of established and newer consultants are equally valued.

We support one of London's four Major Trauma Centres, as well as large neurosurgical and supra-regional vascular units. We also work closely with Respiratory Medicine and many other medical and surgical specialties, including high risk obstetrics. As a result, we care for a hugely varied clinical case mix and are pioneers in multi-disciplinary and collaborative care.

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in the UK, we offer a wide range of opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. We welcome interest from individuals with single specialty or joint accreditation in specialties such as anaesthesia, respiratory, general or emergency medicine. Academic clinicians are also welcome and will be encouraged to become local principal investigators for multicentre studies in collaboration with our internationally acclaimed academic department led by Prof A Gordon.

We encourage you contact us prior to application to discuss how we can tailor this post to your interests and personal circumstances.

Main duties of the job

The posts will attract 10PAs including a minimum of 2 SPAs, but we welcome applications from individuals who wish to work less than full time. Our philosophy is to formulate an individualised job plan with successful candidates, with an emphasis on enabling professional development and pursuit of specific interests. We strongly believe that the job plan needs to be sustainable and should enable the successful candidate to maintain a good work-life balance.

Whilst the post advertised is at St Mary's, appointments are to the Trust, and there will be an opportunity for consultants to move between sites, whether to gain clinical or leadership experience.

About us

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care. Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. You'll get an experience like no other and will fast forward your career. Benefits include career development, flexible working and wellbeing, staff recognition scheme. Make use of optional benefits including Cycle to work, car lease schemes, and season ticket loan or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.

We encourage staff to have the Covid vaccination to protect themselves, patients, other colleagues as well as the wider community. Please note it is an operational requirement to comply with infection prevention and control procedures within the Trust such as lateral flow testing, handwashing and the wearing of masks, according to the procedures in place at any time or location.

As part of our continued response to Covid19 we are still conducting the majority of our interviews virtually.

We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff and will consider applications to work flexibly, part-time or job share. Please talk to us at interview.
