We have a substantive band 6 Specialist Nurse post available in our Sexual and Reproductive Health Department.

The Jefferiss Wing is a busy and dynamic integrated sexual health service offering a wide range of services including screening for sexually transmitted infections, nurse-led follow up and treatment clinics, services for people who have experienced sexual assault, and other specialist clinics.

Our patients attend with a variety of sexual health and contraceptive needs, requiring care, comprehensive assessment and treatment by the multidisciplinary team. The department suits candidates who want to work in a fast-paced environment and practice their advanced sexual health and contraceptive nursing skills.

The ideal candidate would have post-registration experience in sexual & reproductive health in a specialty role or in team leader managerial role in sexual and reproductive health. The ideal candidate will hold qualifications in sexual health and contraception such as DFSRH diploma, LoC SDI or STIF; however, we will consider candidates who are willing to undertake training in these subjects.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will work with multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development, as part of the team. In addition, the post holder will provide specialist sexual health nursing care and support.
  • To assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate them without supervision.
  • To assist in leading and monitoring the performance of the nursing team.
  • To undertake both clinical and managerial components of the role in order to provide a high quality service for patients and staff development.
  • Actively seek evidence-based practice to maintain competence and continue to develop and deliver a high standard of nursing care in Sexual Health and HIV.
  • Be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within the Jefferiss Wing and Trust
