The aim of the post is to assist and support the team in providing high quality therapy management for patients referred to physiotherapy and occupational therapy to maximise independence and assist with safe discharge planning. The post holder will be mainly assisting the qualified therapists for the care and management of patients who need therapy. There will be a delegated clinical caseload. A registered therapist will provide support and supervision.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, flexible and shows a positive approach. In addition, they will be professional, efficient, effective and committed to continuous professional development. They will be supported with learning and development on the apprenticeship pathway to achieve all the competencies that are required to carry out the role. In return, we expect the post holder to be fully engaged and committed.

The role will include undertaking specific Therapy Assistant duties, such as assisting in the treatment of patients, carrying out exercise and mobility programs and supporting with group sessions as well as administrative duties. Training will be provided to ensure you are competent and confident in this role.

As part of our apprenticeship programme, you will also work towards achieving a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Allied Health Support) diploma, which will complement and support your on-the-job learning. There is also a comprehensive workplace training programme to support you develop and extend your skills.

Main duties of the job

18 Month fixed term apprenticeship leading to a Band 3 substantive post subject to satisfactory performance."

To assist qualified therapists (Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Dietitians, & Speech and Language Therapists) in the care and management of Inpatients Outpatients and community for Children's and to undertake necessary duties to support the functioning of the department and service.

This is a static post but you will be expected to work cross site as required
