Job summary
We are seeking to recruit 5 Consultant Anaesthetists to join our department at Charing Cross Hospital.
2 of the roles will be cross-site working at both Charing Cross Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital.
3 posts will be based solely at Charing Cross Hospital.
Charing Cross Hospital includes a busy Neurosurgical unit, Interventional Radiology service, specialist Head and Neck surgery, as well as a regional cancer service for major Urology, Breast cancer and colorectal cancer cases. There is also the Riverside Day Surgery unit, major elective orthopaedic surgery and a regional Plastic Surgery/Reconstructive Surgery service. The on call rota currenlty set at 1:15
St Mary's Hospital is the site where the majority of acute care happens within the Trust, as well as orthopaedics, trauma, neurosurgery, bariatric and general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, paediatrics and maxillofacial surgery. It is one of the four London Major Trauma Centres, with the anaesthetics service fully involved in all stages of the trauma pathway for adults and children. It has an adult on-call rota set at 1:12; this on-call rota attracts 1 PA and a 3% on-call supplement.
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register with a CCT (or equivalent) in Anaesthesia, or within 6 months of gaining a CCT.
Main duties of the job
The jobs are paid as 10 PA per week for a whole-time contract - 8.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA.
8.5 PA per week of clinical activities including - pre-operative assessment clinics, elective and emergency theatre work, peri-operative medicine including acute pain management and MDT meetings and on-call activity (0.5 PA).
1.5 PA per week of Supporting Professional Activities - including audit, clinical governance, teaching, research, educational supervision of junior staff and CPD.
For the cross-site posts (of which there are 2) the on-call rota will be set at 1:12; this on-call rota attracts 1 PA and a 3% on-call supplement.
For the Charing Cross posts (of which there are 3) on-call will be at the Charing Cross site and is on a 1:15 rota. This is remunerated as 0.5PA with an on call supplement of 3%.
