Job summary
This 0.4WTE 1 year fixed term post for a Specialty Doctor in Sexual Health will be based at the Jefferiss Wing, St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. You will join a multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Specialty doctor and associate specialists, Specialist trainees, GP trainees, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Pharmacists who work in Sexual Health and HIV. You will be expected to participate in the Integrated Sexual Health outpatient services; supporting the acute Sexual Health and LARC (IUT) service, managing complex cases and providing senior support to junior doctors and nurses for both scheduled care for patients with appointments and unscheduled care for more urgent presentations. On-call duties are not included in this post.
Main duties of the job
The post holder's duties will include supporting the sexual health 'core' acute service, responsibility for managing a variety of complex sexual health cases that may include safeguarding issues, sexual assaults and management of complex sexual health conditions. They would be expected to provide clinical supervision for junior doctors and nurses in the sexual health core clinic. The role of the supervising senior is pivotal to supporting the provision of safe and efficient care in the sexual health clinics (largely delivered by nurses and junior doctors) and optimises patient flow through the departments. The post holder will also undertake a weekly intrauterine technique (IUT) clinic. There will also be opportunity to contribute to teaching, education and research activities in the department.
