Job summary
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate our trust values to work in our organisation. We are excited to offer the opportunity for a committed, motivated and clinically expert renal Phlebotomist with experience with patients to apply for this Band 3 post within the renal directorate at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust at the Hammersmith Hospital.
The WLRTC network consists of 4 renal dedicated wards on the Hammersmith Hospital site: a high dependency unit (De Wardener Ward, 12 beds) and 3 other wards (Handfield Jones, Kerr, Peters Wards; total of 63 beds). Additionally there is 18-bed renal day-case unit, a renal rapid assessment unit which is open 9-5, 6 days a week for urgent clinical assessments of renal patients and a newly dedicated receiving unit for urgent admissions/ambulance cases.
The post holder must work well in a team of 4 who is willing to assist and support the medical team taking patients bloods.
The post holder must have good communication skills and have the ability to motive the patients when providing high quality patient care. As a role model you will be encouraged to empower patients by encouraging them to take their blood to expedite there discharge home.
The successful candidate is therefore expected to be flexible and able to work all shift patterns to accommodate the service needs.

Main duties of the job
Your main duties will be collecting blood samples by venipuncture. You will be expected to work without direct supervision and exercise initiative when providing patient care, however a trained nurse will be available for advice and guidance. You should have phlebotomy experience and the ability to work with people and as part of team and demonstrate good communication skills, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and Patient Confidentiality.
