Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
enthusiastic, motivated and forward thinking pharmacist to lead and continue to
develop specialist pharmacy services to the rheumatology service at Imperial
College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The Rheumatology service cares for over 5000
patients across 4 hospital sites, with over 2000 patients prescribed biologic
therapy. As the successful candidate you will support the Biologics Review
Clinics to ensure all these patients are regularly reviewed & treatment
tailored to their requirements. A good understanding of the high cost drugs
process is required as you will be expected to monitor & manage funding
applications for these medicines within Rheumatology.
You will be the main Pharmacy point of contact
for rheumatology medicines related work both clinical & directorate. You
will work closely with the rest of the specialist medicine team to ensure
homecare services run smoothly.
This is a really exciting opportunity for a
pharmacist to work closely with rheumatology specialists in a fast moving area
of practice to optimise patients treatment.
You will be self-motivated and organised with
excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to be able to
develop effective working relationships with a wide range of professionals. You
will need good IT skills and be able to work with many different IT programs
& databases.

February & 1st March.
Main duties of the job
- To lead, deliver and evaluate the clinical pharmacy service to the Rheumatology Department
- To provide a consistently highly specialist pharmaceutical service for patients seen within the Rheumatology Department, in particular those patients on biologic medicines, in line with Trust and national standards in order to meet all Clinical Governance requirements
- To develop and maintain highly specialist knowledge in medicines used within Rheumatology
- To develop expertise in the field of biosimilars and lead work with the specialist nurses & consultants in the switching of patients' therapy in line with contractual arrangements with Commissioners.
