Job summary

We are looking for a Band 5/6 Children’s or Adult Nurse; with experience or an interest in Haematology Nursing and who is ready to undertake more role responsibilities and to complement our existing nursing team.

Main duties of the job

We would like to offer you the opportunity for a Bank Line of Work for 6-12 months where you will work within our dynamic and friendly Haematology/Oncology and Paediatric Bone Marrow Unit. Grand Union is a 13-bedded acute paediatric haematology ward with four Paediatric Bone Marrow Transplant facilities and in addition a 2-bedded Apheresis Bay.

The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff who provide high quality care to children with a variety of conditions including:

1. Sickle Cell Anaemia

2. Beta Thalassaemia

3. Diamond Blackfan Anaemia

4. Gene Therapy

5. Bone Marrow Transplant

6. Bone Marrow Failures

7. Apheresis Programme

8. Oncological Emergencies

As a Band 6 nurse and if you can demonstrate skills in assessment and clinical competence you will be afforded an opportunity to undergo our Apheresis Training in Red Cell Exchange and Plasmapheresis and be given the opportunity to flex onto our on-call rota.
