Job summary

The Deputy Overseas Visitors Manager plays a vital role in the leadership and development of the Overseas Visitors team, as well as the identification of overseas visitors to the Trust as part of a fantastic team set across 3 main hospital sites.

This is a newly created role and will provide the successful candidate will the opportunity to further their knowledge and experience of overseas visitor management within one of the largest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country.

Main duties of the job

Line management for the Overseas Visitor Officers and Assistant Overseas Visitor Officer, including training and development of the team

Engaging with the wider trust staff to increase the understanding and knowledge of overseas visitors and the overseas visitor team processes

Developing and implementing performance management and audit processes within the Overseas Visitor team

Dealing with enquiries from clinical and corporate teams from within the Trust

5). Providing basic Overseas Visitor information to patients and/or their carers

Checking Overseas Visitors evidence to confirm eligibility for NHS-funded care

Telephoning external agencies to ascertain individual's status in the UK

Comprehensive administration of the Overseas Visitor team

Raising accurate invoices for Overseas Visitor treatment

  • Educated to degree level or similar qualification or experience
  • Good standard of written English

  • Experience in an Overseas Visitors or Private Patient Team
  • Conversant with all aspects of DHSC guidelines on overseas visitors
  • Experience of dealing with a variety of people at different levels in a customer focused environment - preferably in a patient-facing role
  • Working in an administrative environment using computerised systems
  • NHS experience including experience of hospital / patient processes
  • Experience of working in Overseas Visitors Cost Recovery, preferably in an NHS provider setting
  • Experience of developing policies and procedures
  • Use of hospital administration systems

  • Computer literacy
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to deal with patients showing empathy and compassion
