Job summary

The Admissions and discharge Lounge is a very busy, fast paced environment requiring a high level of physical health and ability. You will work as part of the Multidisciplinary team ensuring our patients are prepared safely for theatre and receive high standards of care from the very start.

Main duties of the job

Within the Admissions/Discharge Lounge your role would include nurse led admissions, preparing your caseload of patients for surgery with the support of the Healthcare Assistants, and receiving day case patients post operatively for discharge under a Nurse led pathway. Duties would also include, but not limited to attending surgical dressings if needing replacing before discharge, issuing of pharmacy prepared medications and providing patients with administration information, ensuring the patients have any post surgery follow up appointments booked by the admin staff before discharge, providing post op care and advise as documented by the surgical team, escorting patients to the front of the hospital for pick up or to the transport lounge, attending to phone enquiries.

You will work as part of the Multidisciplinary team ensuring our patients are prepared safely for theatre and receive high standards of care from the very start.

Within the Admissions/Discharge Loungeyourrole would include nurse ledadmissions, preparing your caseload of patients for surgery with the support of the Healthcare Assistants, and receiving day case patients post operativelyfor dischargeunderaNurse ledpathway. Our service runs from 07:00am until 9pm 5 days a week. The successful candidate will work 3- 4 days/week on a varied shift roster pattern of short and long days, early and late starts, no nights, and may be required to work a weekend day adhoc, but this is very infrequent as the service is currently a 9-5 service.
