Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 sister/charge nurse position within the Emergency Department at Charing Cross Hospital.

Join our adult emergency nursing team at Charing Cross Hospital and work in a fast-paced environment. Working in a brand new £7.5 million state-of-the-art Emergency Department you'll progress fast as part of an outstanding, supportive team. Alongside the co-located Urgent Care Centre, the Department sees an average of 300 patients a day, which offers a diverse range of patient presentations. The medical and nursing team work collaboratively to lead the department daily, and with a longer vision to achieve change and excellence in practice.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients and assist in monitoringstandards
  • To assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate them without supervision
  • To assist in leading and monitoring the performance of the nursing team
  • To respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take remedial actionas required.

  • Relevant level 2 post registration A&E course
  • Practice assessor course

Desirable

  • Competency in medication administration including IV medications
  • Competency in venepuncture and cannulation
  • Experience in teaching junior staff and students
