An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and motivated leader to join our dynamic team as Director of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) within the Office of the Medical Director at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
As one of the most senior managers within our Trust you will play a pivotal role in developing and leading an innovative and forward thinking IPC strategy to ensure we can deliver the highest standards of patient safety and care.
Through strong professional leadership of a highly specialist team, and delivery of a full portfolio of responsibilities, you will ensure we meet our statutory and regulatory obligations with respect to IPC, providing assurance to the board. This will involve working in complex partnerships with sites and areas across and outside the Trust to develop a strategic approach for the provision of services with IPC embedded at their core.

It would suit a senior clinician or manager with a clinical qualification, looking to take the next step in their career. This post requires a highly experienced, confident and compassionate individual, with an extensive knowledge of IPC. We are looking for someone who is committed to continuous improvement and to ensuring our patients and staff are protected from any and all avoidable healthcare associated infections.
Main duties of the job

- Robust assurance frameworks are in place for IPC across the Trust
- Demonstrable improvement and excellence in IPC practice
- Effective IPC practice is integrated into care delivered
- We contribute to the clinical professional agenda, and promote the Trust as a centre of excellence for IPC practice working in collaboration with academic institutions to lead on education, research and practice development, including development of multi-professional research
- The IPC team are clear on their roles and responsibilities and are supported to deliver
- Delivery of the operational, financial, performance and activity targets within areas of responsibility and most importantly focuses on improving patient, carer and staff experience
- We strive always to prevent avoidable healthcare infections
- Standards for the decontamination of medical devices are met across all areas
