Job summary

We are looking for a committed, motivated and clinically expert renal nurse with exceptional leadership skills to directly line manage the nursing team on Kerr Ward. You must be adaptable to the ever changing environment and be a role model in the specialty.

You will be clinically responsible for leading and managing the team of nurses, HCSW's and admin staff to deliver excellent care for our patients.

This post is pivotal in providing highly visible nursing leadership within the multi-professional team. You will have the responsibility to ensure that you and your team care for all patients in a safe, effective, competent and holistic way.

In this role you will need to have excellent communication and negotiation skills as you will work in collaboration with Renal Consultants and the wider MDT.

We are looking for an individual with excellent clinical skills, believe in treating all patients as individuals and would like to lead a team to really make a positive contribution to the care and outcome of the patients we treat. We are looking for a person who has a strong interest in supporting staff well-being, professional development and patient experience.

Main duties of the job

  • As a key member of a multi professional team, ensure appropriate referral and discussion with other members of the team to optimise patient care.
  • Ensure patients are assessed, have care plans that are implemented and evaluated in accordance with Trust's evidence basedprocedural documents.
  • To have local open and transparent communication channels that support the ward team to do the right thing for the people we care for, to be bold when they have good ideas and to speak up when things go wrong.
  • Act as a clinical expert within sphere of work.
  • Have continuous responsibility for the ward area, providing visible professional leadership and line management for ateam of nursing and support staff.
  • Ensure staffing is in line with Trust policy.
  • Manage budgets and resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Be responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the clinical environment.
  • Champion a culture of learning and quality improvement in the clinical area.
