Job summary
We are developing a growing range of integrated and digital care services and offer private healthcare in dedicated facilities on all our sites, including at the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital.
An exciting opportunity has come up in the Data Warehouse team. We are looking for a talented, experienced and enthusiastic person to bolster our Data Warehouse team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in upholding and enhancing our information systems, ensuring that data integrity, security, and performance meet or surpass organisational standards. The role will involve close engagement with system suppliers, ICT staff and senior service (clinical) staff.
The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience working in a Data Warehouse team. Will have strong technical skills and be proficient in SQL database administration, development, and data extraction tools, i.e. SSIS, and methodologies. Experience working with Python, Pyspark, R, Databricks, Apache Spark, and cloud based computing systems is desirable. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required and the post holder will be developing working relationships with a wide range of operational, financial, and clinical managers.
The role is a hybrid one - based at Imperial at the St Mary's site in Paddington and working from home, with occasional meetings at other sites across North West London.
Main duties of the job
- Working with clinical and nursing teams to elicit and specify information system requirements and tailoring the requirements into a project timeline with clearly specified deliverables in a clear timeline
- Using appropriate data ingestion and data transformation software and software engineering techniques to build optimised information systems on cloud or in-house systems
- Monitoring routine jobs and pipelines, identifying, investigating and resolving any failures/developments required for existing and new pipelines
- Design and execute procedures for data backup and restoration
- Provide support for SQL server upgrades and hardware enhancement strategies.
- Address and resolve issues or incidents as they arise.
- Diagnose and rectify any issues encountered during ETL and data ingestion phases. Assist in drafting or updating procedures for database data entry as needed.
- Assist in overseeing database performance, tracking disk space consumption, and conducting routine server maintenance tasks.
- Participate in managing database users and overseeing identity and user access controls.
- The individual in this position must adhere to all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and is responsible for updating their SOP training as part of their annual professional growth and development plan.
