Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a nurse, who is enthusiastic and dedicated to further developing their skills in women's health.

A post has become available within the Colposcopy CNS team, the successful candidate will be part of a skilled team of Consultants and nurse specialists who are dedicated to delivering a high standard of care as set by the BSCCP.

The ideal candidate will be expected to be motivated, flexible with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. You must have excellent communications skills as you will be working closely with team of clinicians, administrative staff and other gynaecology nurses. You will act as an expert within the specialised area of colposcopy and also have a back ground in gynaecology and women's health.

Ideally, we would like to recruit a Band 7 who is already BSCCP accredited, however, we will also give consideration to applicants who have substantial working experience in gynaecology or women's health but require training to fulfil the role. We would appoint to a Band 6 trainee post, offering support and training with the expectation you will successfully complete the BSCCP course and examination achieving accreditation in up to 12 -18 months.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide a high quality assessment, diagnostic examination for women referred to the Colposcopy service without direct medical supervision/independently but in accordance with local and BSCCP National Guidelines.
  • Act as a resource for women and the clinical and administrative teams by provision of comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training within ICHT.
  • To act as a resource for patients, GP's and colleagues within ICHT via telephone and email advice line.
  • Review patient diagnostic laboratory results, interpreting and actioning clinician instructions.
  • Undertake where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes and updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice, and the setting of quality standards within Colposcopy.
  • Contribute to formulating reports and clinical audit of own practice, service and outcomes.
  • Active involvement in the development of the Gynaecology service.
  • Active Involvement in improving patient pathway and patient experience
