Job summary

The post holder will be working with the Lead Midwife Quality Assurance, Governance & Compliance in developing, implementing and monitoring seamless clinical governance pathways, which foster multidisciplinary working across the directorate. Working closely and collaboratively with the senior leadership teams to ensure effective communication systems are in place and to ensure excellent standards of care are maintained. The post holder will act as the deputy to the Lead Midwife Quality Assurance, Governance and Compliance and work collaboratively to develop programmes of work to ensure that the Trust meets the outcomes set by the Care Quality Commission, NHS England, NHS Resolution Maternity Incentive Scheme and any other national, service-specific or local performance frameworks and other emerging Maternity Services national drivers.

In response to the changing needs of the organisation, the post holder is expected to work from time to time outside their normal place of work and be redeployed as agreed. Where needed the Trust reserves the right to change your normal place of work to any other location within the Trust. The post holder will be expected to travel across the Trust's maternity units, working away from their base location in the delivery of their duties.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Lead Midwife Quality Assurance, Governance & Compliance on monitoring standards of a range of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, audit and patient safety activities, in liaison with other multidisciplinary professionals and functional heads within the Safety and Effectiveness Team
  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring effective governance systems are in place across maternity and particularly guideline, clinical audit, risk management, training and Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS)
  • To support the co-ordination and collation of evidence to ensure the Directorate meets its obligations in relation to national clinical and quality standards (e.g. CQC, NHS Resolution, MIS Safety Actions (CNST), Ockenden and any other standards) including actions and recommendations within the set timescales
  • Work in partnership with the Lead Midwife Quality Assurance, Governance & Compliance, Triumvirate and Heads of Midwifery ensuring that a communication plan is in place to keep all key stakeholders updated on progress and actions
  • Work closely with the Lead Midwife Quality Assurance, Governance & Compliance and the cross-site Heads of Midwifery, Maternity Triumvirate and trust wide Quality and Compliance teams based within the Office of the Medical Director
  • Maintain working relationships with clinical colleagues and the senior midwifery leadership team to deliver on the requirements of this post

EDUCATION

Essential

  • NMC registered midwife
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience
  • Ability to analyse aggregated management systems

Desirable

  • Recognised Leadership/management qualification

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Essential

  • Up to date and evidence-based knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
  • Proficient levels of skills in use of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have knowledge and awareness of diversity and human rights and the competencies appropriate to the role to support diverse individual needs and human rights
