As the Chief Pharmacy Technician for Outsourced Outpatients, you will be the main contact between our outsourced outpatient partner and the Trust. You will work closely with both Trust staff and the staff across our four outsourced outpatients pharmacies, so play a key role in the service provision to our patients.
A key part of this role is in advising on medicines procurement, stock control and management, and well as an opportunity to get involved in contract management, financial management and governance. So it is a role offering involvement in a variety of areas.
You will also be a member of the Pharmacy Business Support team, so will be given opportunities to get involved in supporting the rest of the team and the department across a wide range of areas, including the pharmacy stock control system, automation and other projects
Main duties of the job
To be the lead and first point of contact for the outsourced partners, clinics and pharmacy staff regarding outsourcing issues
To support the management of the outsourced outpatient pharmacy contract and services on behalf of the Pharmacy Department.
To ensure medicines are procured by the provider cost effectively in line with NHS, LPP and local contracts and agreements, consistent with procurement via the Trust's pharmacies
To ensure the accuracy of pricing and medicines expenditure reporting by ensuring contract and other pricing information is updated on the CMM pharmacy system and notified to and actioned by the provider in a timely manner
To advise the provider in relation to medicines shortages, identifying and providing information on alternatives and authorising additional expenditure incurred
To support and deputise for other members of the Pharmacy Business Support team in their absence
Ensuring the Outsourced Outpatients Pharmacy Provider complies with all medicines related legislation.
