Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) Women's and Children's and Clinical Support Services Division is seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Obstetrician, with a special interest in intrapartum care and patient safety, to work in the prestigious maternity unit at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking doctor who is driven by providing high quality care, improving safety, has a flair for teaching and education.

ICHT provides maternity care to around 8500 women with low risk care provided in the community and in its co-located Birth Centres, high risk care provided at both Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea and St Mary's Hospitals and tertiary services delivered on the Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital site.

The post holder must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a License to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role will include covering Labour Ward, including Labour Ward leadership responsibilities, elective Caesarean section lists, antenatal clinic, maternity day assessment unit (MDAU), a postnatal debrief clinic, maternity risk reviews and attendance at clinical risk meetings. There will also be a requirement to participate in the obstetric on-call rota, which is currently a 1:15 commitment.
