Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our innovative Main Outpatient department, at Imperial College Health Care Trust based in St Mary's Hospital.

This is an exciting role for the post holder within the Outpatients Department. The post holder will have leadership skills and be able to fully support the team of reception staff and any apprentices. You must be proactive in your approach with a focus on staff development and patient experience.

You will effectively supervise reception staff to ensure that allocated staff members have annual appraisals, training and development, follow policy and procedure within the OPD and act as a deputy to band 5 Service Support Manager when required.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage service cover, co-ordinating leave and distributing workloads evenly among team members
  • To assist in recruitment and retention of administrative staff
  • To ensure all new staff receive appropriate induction, training and support
  • To undertake appraisals and ensure all administrative staff have Personal Development Plans and receive appropriate training
  • To undertake and participate in any training and coaching activities for the allocated staff
  • To manage staffing issues such as sickness absence and time-keeping
  • To initiate Trust disciplinary procedures, as necessary.
  • To communicate relevant information to staff and have regular team meetings.
  • To ensure that all outpatient administrative procedures are adhered to and updated appropriately.
