Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 dietitian to join our rotational team. This post is one of nine, each lasting 1 year: one at St. Mary's Hospital; Critical care and respiratory; four of which are based at Charing Cross Hospital: Stroke, Gastroenterology, ICU/Neurosciences, Head and Neck / Oncology and four at Hammersmith Hospital; Renal, Gastroenterology/medical, Haemato-oncology and ICU/Cardiothoracic/Cardiology. Rotations occur in April each year.
You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills, with formal training in parenteral nutrition, renal or critical care where appropriate. All rotations require skills to manage complex enteral tube nutritional support and multidisciplinary working. There is also some line management opportunities.
Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist dietetic service to a designated service (Renal, Neurosciences, Critical Care, Gastroenterology, Oncology/Head and Neck Cancer, Stroke, Cardiothoracic and Liver/Respiratory rotations) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, in liaison with the Clinical Lead Dietitian. This post covers both in and outpatient work; the individual must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the management of patients in the specialist area.
- To provide a quality Nutrition & Dietetic service to both in and outpatients in accordance with established departmental guidelines.
- To provide speciality Nutrition & Dietetic input into education, training and development programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate medical, nursing and dietetic students in addition to other training requirements.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of evidence based nutritional guidelines and service developments in the specialist area.
