We are looking for a Speech & Language Therapist with expertise in Head & Neck Oncology to join our Speech and Language Therapy team at Charing Cross Hospital (CXH). As a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide a highly specialist service to inpatients and outpatients at any stage of their oncology treatment pathway. Surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy are provided on site and we participate in weekly multidisciplinary clinics including Joint Head & Neck clinic, Radiotherapy clinic and a CNS/AHP-led Pre-treatment clinic. We hold weekly videofluoroscopy swallow clinics and provide an SLT-led FEES service across all inpatient and outpatient services. In addition, we provide a tertiary referral laryngectomy problem solving videofluoroscopy clinic and are the only centre to offer both basic and advanced formal training in Surgical Voice Restoration in the UK.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with developing specialist clinical knowledge, postgraduate experience and clinical experience in the area of Head & Neck Oncology/ENT. He/She will work to deliver a specialist speech and language therapy service in this specialty. This will include liaising closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues to provide a service to patients with communication and swallowing disorders. The post holder will receive regular support and supervision from the Clinical Lead Speech & Language Therapist in Head & Neck/ENT. They will continue to gain wider clinical experience and expertise through clinical support and be committed to extending their skills within the area of Head & Neck Oncology.
