Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NWLP Pathology IT Team based at Charing Cross.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who will work as part of a dynamic team to support in delivering the NWLP Pathology IT Team requirements such as: To support and develop the NWLP IT systems and provide specialist input on projects and service enhancements. In particular maintaining and developing the LIMS and middleware based systems across all disciplines of Pathology and ensuring the end to end flow of orders to results in the various systems works as required.

The successful candidate will work a whole time equivalent of 37.5 hours from 09:00 to 17:30 Mon-Fri and may be required to undertake additional or perform adjusted hours including weekends when needed. The Path IT team also provide a 24/7 rota which team members can participate in once appropriately trained.

Main duties of the job

  • To support, maintain and develop the Pathology IT systems that underpin the pathology service, primarily the LIMS, middleware, associated interfaces and instruments.
  • To ensure that all new developments are built and maintained over time as the platforms and technologies develop.
  • Build and customise the Sunquest Laboratory Information System (LIMS) and Middleware within specified sections of the laboratory to meet the needs of the users. This includes building and maintaining tables for maintenance, quality control, report options, etc. and coordinating the development of policies and procedures.
  • Build, test and maintain the SMART database within specified sections of the laboratory. This includes building and maintaining a SMART hierarchy, SMART database tables and developing and coordinating policies and procedures.
  • Perform system and integration testing of the LIMS and Middleware; organise User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the LIMS within specified sections of the laboratory.
  • Deliver "train the trainer" sessions within specified sections of the laboratory.

  • MSc Biomedical Science, Information Systems, a related subject or equivalent
  • Relevant professional qualification (FIBMS) or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Evidence of continual professional development, especially in areas of Information Technology

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to present complex information in user friendly formats

EXPERIENCE
