Job summary

Are you unsure of which ICU speciality you wish to work in or are you looking for a variety of experiences and exciting learning opportunities? If you are, our ICU rotation may be right for you!

This programme offers the ability to rotate between our 4 ICUs, across our three hospital sites (Hammersmith, Charing Cross and St Mary's hospital), gaining experience in Trauma, Vascular, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Cardiothoracics and Renal. You can customise your rotation, choosing how many specialties to work in and the duration. When ready, you transition to permanent employment in the ICU of your choice.

You will be enrolled onto our new starter pathway. This has been designed to meet the needs for new to practice Registered Nurses and those without previous ICU or acute hospital experience. What we ask is that you have a desire to be developed and are able to thrive in a busy, acute, challenging environment.

We provide new recruits to the specialty with a 16-week induction programme, during which you will be supported to gain IV competence. Classroom-based training takes place alongside 10 weeks of supernumerary practice. You will attend study days in pain, epidural management, and Immediate Life Support. On completion you will have acquired the essential knowledge and skills to enable you to practice safely and autonomously as an ICU nurse. You will be supported through the programme by our Clinical Education Team, who were described as 'Outstanding' by the CQC.
