Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic research nurse/practitioner to join an established clinical research team, based at Hammersmith Hospital. The post holder will be working with the Non-malignant Haematology research team on a range of interventional and non-interventional studies.

As a Research Practitioner or Research Nurse you will play an integral role in the delivery of high quality research within non-malignanthaematology. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with the clinical team and wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload. This will involve the identification, recruitment, education and monitoring of patients participating in research along with the timely collation and documentation of accurate data. The role is patient facing and the post holder may be asked to work on COVID-19 research studies, in addition to trials within the benign haematology research portfolio.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clinical trials whereby they can make a valued contribution in assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in research. The post requires excellent communication skills, a sound understanding of complex scientific protocols, and the ability to work autonomously.

Prior experience of working in research within an NHS setting is essential for this role and experience in benign haematology is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR clinical research network to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS.

As a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse/Practitioner in the benign haematology research team you will be responsible for assessing and managing patients and carers participating in research and managing additional care pathways relating to research project. This will involve the screening, identification, recruitment, education and monitoring of patients and the organisation of their treatments and investigations. You will also be responsible for the organisation of follow-up assessments for trial patients, and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
