Job summary
We are looking for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team.
If you would like a change in direction, or to further your career in this exciting area of nursing, our in house training and development programme will equip you with the skills you need in HIV. Based at St Mary's hospital, providing HIV care of the highest quality to over 3,200 patients, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has one of the largest and most innovative units of its kind in the UK. This is a full time fixed maternity cover post for 9 months.
We require an enthusiastic nurse with:
- One year post registration experience in a ward setting
- Ambition to develop professional, clinical & research skills
- Ability to manage difficult situations & use own initiative.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Non-judgmental & empathetic attitude
Main duties of the job
- Following the preceptorship period provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
- At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
- Actively seek evidence based practice to maintain competence and continue to develop and deliver a high standard of nursing care in HIV.
- Monitor and maintain policies, standards of nursing care and staff development, as part of the nursing and MDT to maintain a safe working environment.
- Be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within the Jefferiss Wing and Trust
