Paediatric Haematology consists of Grand Union Ward and the Paediatric Haematology Day Unit which are internationally recognised as centres of excellence. You will have the opportunity to care for Children/Young People with a wide range of conditions such as Sickle Cell Disease, Beta thalassemia, Diamond Blackfan Anaemia and Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes. You will be part of a skilled nursing team who work closely with our BMT Coordinators and CNS's.

There is the opportunity to gain skills in the administration of fresh and cryopreserved cells, Chemotherapy and Apheresis, as well as getting involved in quality improvement and collaboration with leading paediatric teams.
Main duties of the job
- As a Registered Paediatric Nurse you will prioritise patient care, provide high quality, effective individualised care to all patients that is compassionate and caring.
- To asses care needs and develop, implement and evaluate them without supervision.
- To work with the Matron and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development, as part of the ward team.
- To provide direct quality patient care to Haematology, Oncology and Haemoglobinopathy patients.
- To carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise unqualified and adaptation staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
