Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to take on the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role for the Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD) and Rare Gynacological Cancer CNS team, where you will lead a team of band 7 CNSs. This role is primarily leading a highly specialised (GTD) service commissioned only in 2 centres in England, although does additionally lead on other rare gynaecological cancers.
Consequently we are seeking an experienced Cancer CNS with excellent leadership, management and communication skills. We do not expect the individual to have experience within the GTD specialty, gynaecological experience would be ideal, but we would consider an experienced other speciality Cancer CNS if they are wiling and motivated to learn the speciality.
You should be enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated to join this busy service. You will have an excellent understanding of patient experience and support, and developing staff to deliver high quality care.
You will have the opportunity to gain expert experience leading a team while developing your clinical skills in a highly specialist unit. You will provide support, education and specialist advice to patients, carers and health professionals. You will need to be a leader, work autonomously as well as being part of a team and working with your peer lead CNSs to improve cancer patient care and experience.
Main duties of the job
- At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. Where appropriate acting as a 'key worker'.
- To lead on improving the patient experience throughout the patient journey.
- To be accountable for effective management of all resources needed to deliver comprehensive compassionate care within the team. This will include measurement of Patient outcomes in line with local and National Measures.
