Job summary
A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist with an interest in specialist medicine to join our integrated therapy team at St Mary's Hospital. The post holder will be based on the medicine for the elderly ward. The post holder will form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, helping plan timely and safe discharges.
If you want to develop more confidence in your prioritisation,time management and problem solving skills, then this is an ideal opportunity to gain more experience in these areas.In addition you will have supervisory responsibility for a rotational Band 5 Physio and will work closely with a Band 4 TA.Supervisory support and advice is always available from a Band 7 Physio ,along with Band 7 OT and the Clinical Lead.
It is important that the successful applicant is a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and ability to learn and develop new skills.You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in a relevant clinical setting, possessing highly specialist assessment, treatment and risk management skills. The ability to work autonomously, but also well within a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as is the ability to promote the role of Therapies and the implementation of evidence-based practice. In addition to the clinical caseload, the post holder will have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the Therapy service and the team.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients in medicine.
- To acquire and demonstrate knowledge of relevant pathologies, conditions, normal values relating to the specialist area of physiotherapy
- To be responsible for own case load and be responsible within a defined area of the service and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
- To supervise and contribute to the training and development of physiotherapy assistants and junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy students
- To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice within each area
- To make recommendations for service development, with active involvement in the implementation of changes to practice or service protocols
- To participate in the out of hours respiratory/stroke weekend working and overnight respiratory on-call rota
