Job summary
The Event Manager will be part of wide community of service users at
Imperial. Your main role will be planning initiatives and events to engage
service users. You will also be involved in co-designing local maternity care
and supporting the delivery of the Maternity Transformation Programme in Northwest
London.

Main duties of the job
Maternity Voices partnership (MVP) is an
NHS working group: A team of women, birth people and families and providers
working together to review and contribute to the development of the local maternity
care with Imperial College Healthcare Trust to ensure that every woman and
birth person on the maternity pathway has a chance to have their voice heard
about the service receiving through ICHT. MVPs are involved in their local
communities represented in the local Maternity system in Northwest London.
The event manager works in partnership
with MVP chairs to organise, signpost and identify relevant public events for
women, birth people and families. This is to enhance the MVP network, access to
services and opportunity to engage the public into maternity services.
The post is voluntary, but time is
remunerated as described below. Minimum expectation is 3 days per month (22.5
hours).The Event Manager will work closely with the Co-Chairs and MVP lay members.
They will share the responsibilities detailed below in the way that works best
for the team, and in line with the Annual Work plan and budget.

Please note it is an operational requirement when visiting the
Maternity sites to comply with infection prevention and control procedures

Contact point
- Be the main contact person for all enquiries regarding events organised by the Maternity Voices Partnership and other community/NHS groups
- Regularly source and advertise maternity events and respond accordingly to interest
Formal meetings
- Attend and occasional chair Trust meetings/ meeting with other community leaders and organisations
- Community-based feedback sessions (when included in Annual plan)
- Assist in facilitation of community-based sessions covering Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
- Sourcing local events
- Advertisement on Eventbrite
- Logistics and selecting venues
- Welcoming and facilitation
Service User Reps
- Recruit and informally interview volunteer service user reps
- Induct new service user reps
- Offer ongoing support to service user reps
- Meet with service user reps up regularly to discuss recent feedback and roles for user reps
- Set the agenda
Plan and facilitate
- Networking with other Maternity Voices Partnerships
- Actively network with relevant groups such as the MVP Chairs and Service User reps; London MVP chairs & Service Users Network; and National Maternity Voices
- Actively network with other MVP leaders in NW London and across London
- Actively participate in the Local Maternity System meetings for NW London
- Stay up to date with how other MVPs are running, and what works well elsewhere
Maternity Voices Representation
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and forums, such as patient experience meetings and working groups for improvement projects.
- Attend and contribute to regional and national maternity gatherings where voices of women and birth people need to be heard
Promotion
- Be involved with promoting the Maternity Voices Partnership to the public
- Be involved with promoting the Maternity Voices Partnership to the NHS staff – possibly writing for internal publications etc.
Action plan and annual report
- Organise and lead work agreed on the Work Plan, including delegating to other MVP members.
- Compile an Annual Report every year, to present to senior Trust management, commissioners, and relevant stakeholders.
Commitment required: Minimum 3 days per month (22.5hours)Expenses
Remuneration expense terms and conditions can be found via Patient and Public Voice Partners. MVP Chairs and members contributing expert knowledge & feedback to the team are entitled to claim for full and half days via the Imperial NHS Professional Bank system as external members. Other expenses including (but not limited to) travel can be claimed (i.e., receipts and invoices) and reimbursed accordingly.
· Full day 7.5 hours (Hourly rate of £20.57)
· Half day 4 hours (Hourly rate of £20.57)
For example: Half Day claim may typically consist of a two-hour meeting, preparation, contribution, and follow-up actions.
Where individuals choose to get involved in ‘open access’ engagement opportunities, for example completing an online survey, attending a meeting in public or drop-in session, no financial support is offered. No expenses can be claimed.
You are expected to have web access and own an IT device such as computer, tablet or phone.
