An opportunity has arisen for therapeutic radiographers to join the treatment team as band 5 Therapy Radiographers within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust's radiotherapy department.
We are pleased to receive applications from students qualifying this summer who have not yet received their results
These posts will support the implementation of our 5th Linac at our Hammermsith site and will be available to start from August 2022. You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledege across treatment and pre-treatment pathways and you will be expected to participate in the emergency on-call rota.
We actively support professional development and encourage radiographer led research and QI projects. We support leadership development with excellent leadership development programmes delivered by the Trust. We were the first London radiotherapy service to adopt all of its clinical and physics workforces as Macmillan professionals. We support flexible working arrangements and all applicants would be expected to support the working hours of the service and work across sites.
Two of our newest TrueBeam Linacs have the ExacTrac system and we will be implementing SGRT on our newest linac with plans to expand to other linacs in the future. We have switched the majority of our treatment planning system to the Raystation system and we are now in the final stages of implementation of our paperless patient pathways.

Professional & Technical
- Maintain a level of clinical practice commensurate with departmental standards through ongoing professional development
- Achieve and maintain standards set for clinical and non-clinical performance
- Be professionally and legally accountable for own clinical practice
- As an IR(ME)R operator take full responsibility for all treatment preparation and calculations, and treatments undertaken by oneself and signed off as correct;
- Be aware of own limitations in knowledge and be responsible for seeking advice or assistance from colleagues or Medical Physics Experts and Consultant Clinical Oncologists
- To work on a rotational, and on-call basis, within all preparation, planning and treatment areas within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Radiotherapy Departments.
- To accurately interpret treatment prescriptions and plans and patient side effects in order to treat and advise patients accordingly
- To work across site and in close co-operation with colleagues to maintain and improve the standardisation of procedures and techniques
- Be responsible for the documentation of all information necessary for the accurate treatment of patients
- To operate Radiotherapy equipment responsibly and safely and help maintain standards in clinical areas
- To assist in the maintenance and checking of treatment records.
- Comply with all work instructions and procedures related to treatment processes and participate in development and review of new and existing work instructions and procedures
- Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of treatment techniques.

- To provide mentorship to radiographers or student radiographers as required
- To ensure personal development by attending appropriate lectures, seminars and courses
Patient Care
- To ensure that consultants in charge of individual cases are made aware of information relevant to their cases and to discuss and implement any appropriate action
- To liaise with the continuing care team and other professional health care groups in the provision of a quality and seamless service responsive to the needs of individual patients and their carers.
- Provide highly specialist advice regarding treatment as required to other radiographers, professional health care workers or patients and their carers to ensure high levels of patient care are maintained.
- To report any injury, incident or accident to the Superintendent in charge.
- To learn and regularly update lifting and handling skills.
