Job summary

We are looking for 3 enthusiastic, adaptable and autonomous Cerner Clinical Practice Educators to provide education and support to nursing teams enabling them to engage with and understand optimal workflows and patient safety features available in the Core electronic patient record (EPR).

As a Cerner Clinical Practice Educator you will be responsible for the delivery of Core EPR training for 1 hospital site meeting key performance indicators within the year appointed. Training will be provided for all Healthcare Support Workers, Registered Nurse Associates and Registered Nurses. Delivery of the training will be via a mix of small cohort training and at the elbow support for all new staff and to staff currently in post. You will be given access to multiple data platforms to identify staff requiring the most support and enable bespoke at the elbow training for staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivery of cohorted and 'at the elbow' education for Healthcare Support Workers, Nurse Associates and Registered Nurses
  • Use advanced communication skills and management styles, demonstrating the ability to adapt accordingly based on staff needs
  • Act as a professional role model in clinical practice and provide expert digital advice for individuals and teams
  • Understand and work towards the specific digital education KPIs and clinical objectives for development outlined within the Trust strategy
  • Recognise, provide and encourage leadership, motivation and vision as part of the contribution of nursing to digital healthcare
  • Act autonomously in organising working week in line with digital education KPIs
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Cerner education, training and development provisions / opportunities are regularly reviewed, and developed to provide the best learning experience for staff

Cerner Education

  • Be responsible for the training, at the elbow coaching and support of all staff within the designated Trust site
  • Spend 50% of working week in the clinical area providing at the elbow coaching
  • Provide supervisory expertise underpinned by theoretical knowledge, skill and practical experience, imparting expert knowledge of digital speciality
  • In conjunction with the line manager, annually review and develop Cerner education and training provision for staff
  • Take a proactive role in the development and implementation of innovative practice
