Job summary
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Divisional Director of Nursing and be instrumental in delivering all aspects of divisional nursing; providing professional leadership, strategic direction and support to the directorates. Applicants should be able to demonstrate success in delivering effective, safe and cost efficient services including senior staff management, risk and change management.
The Deputy Director of Nursing will be responsible and accountable for advancing the quality, safety and experience of cancer care delivered at the Trust. You will work in collaboration with the corporate cancer directorate leadership triumvirate to offer strategic advice to the Trust's cancer treating services and assist the Divisional Director of Nursing in Trust wide developments and support service transformations to meet the changing needs of our patients.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering the nursing strategic objectives for cancer at the Trust, leading a cancer nursing community of practice and working collaboratively with a wide range of partner charities, NHS trusts, cancer alliance teams and national nursing bodies. They will advocate for cancer nursing care including the development of nursing roles in cancer care delivery, the development of nurse-led diagnostic and treatment pathways for cancer and workforce development across the cancer alliance.

Main duties of the job
The Deputy Divisional Director or Nursing / Trust Lead Cancer Nurse will provide effective, visible clinical and professional leadership and direction to cancer nursing across the Trust, specific focus on cancer clinical nursing specialists and trust- wide cancer services.
The post holder will play an important role in improving cancer patient experience. Providing specialist expertise and taking specific responsibility for patient safety, quality and experience. They will promote quality, innovation, productivity and performance that improves quality of care and patient outcomes; driving transformation through agreed change models. The post holder will provide clinical leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers nurses within the Division, and as part of Back to Floor activities will quality assure care delivery at the bedside.
The post holder will work closely with other cancer leads, Divisional managers, finance and human resources in the delivery of a complex agenda which drives efficiency and quality initiatives across the Directorate and Division.
