Job summary
Are you an experienced Fertility or Gynaecology Nurse ? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and exceptional nurse with a strong background in Gynaecology or Fertility to join our fantastic multidisciplinary team in providing care to our patients at our Chelsea and West Middlesex hospital sites. You will work in collaboration with professionals within the hospital setting to give appropriate specialist advice; support and education in relation to all aspects of fertility.
You will provide clinical care, promote excellence in nursing practice and be able to work across organisational boundaries.
Main duties of the job
These include the varied duties providing clinical care to fertility patients and supporting the service and fellow colleagues.
- Co-ordinate and support other members of the caring team who may be responsible for implementing specific aspects of nursing care.
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents and losses and provide initial support for the member of staff or patient involved, in line with Trust policy.
- Take on extra duties/responsibilities as delegated and agreed by the department/ ward manager or senior staff nurse, within their capability / limitations.
- Maintain professional behaviour at all times and promote a positive image of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at all times, in line with Trust values.
- Contribute to a high quality safe working environment in which patients receive a high standard of care.

Clinical
- Provide care for couples undergoing fertility treatments, including carrying out nurse consultations, telephone calls, consultation and reviews of scans.
- Assist and set up in the variety of fertility treatments, including egg collections, endometrial scratches and saline scans.
- Carry out intra uterine insemination procedure once trained to do so without supervision and assist other colleagues.
- Admit, recover and discharge patients for procedures within fertility setting.
- Counsel and undertake phlebotomy for any patients needing tests carried out.
- Have an understanding of the Human Fertilisation Embryology Authority (HFEA) and the code of practice within the fertility setting.
- Enter data into the IVF database system Foxpro in order to send treatment outcomes to our governing body the HFEA
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care through appropriate frameworks, including safe effective arrangements for discharge, underpinned by Trust values.
- Assist members of the team in the co-ordination of the clinical activities.
- Use clinical standards to participate in the process of monitoring the quality of care delivered. Act to ensure that nursing practice is of the highest standard, in line with Trust and CQC standards.
- Supply and/or administer medication safely in line with Trust medicines policy.
