Socially Complex Senior Midwife

Job summary

The post holder will work alongside the Lead safeguarding midwives to ensure that women with safeguarding issues receive appropriate care, support, and guidance, by developing Maternity Services to address the needs of this client group.

The post holder will work in collaboration between the community teams and safeguarding teams working alongside external agencies, e.g. Drug workers, Social Care and Health, Police, Criminal Justice, Mental Health, Domestic Violence, other support and voluntary agencies.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have a remit to coordinate care for women with safeguarding issues, domestic violence ensuring staff respond in a professional, kind, caring and sensitive manner.

Working as part of the midwifery team the post holder will provide support and education to maternity and multi- disciplinary staff, caring for these women to ensure a safe and appropriate plan of care is made.

They will participate in the training staff on safeguarding issues using a Think Family approach inclusive of both safeguarding children, adults and unborn babies and supporting staff to manage these cases.

  • Evidence of post qualification education activity

  • Able to demonstrate practice in all areas of relating to midwifery
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of working in a safeguarding role
