Birth Centre Senior Midwife
The closing date is 02 February 2026
Job summary
A 12 month secondment opportunity has arisen to join our well established birth centre team to cover maternity leave.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated midwife with strong leadership skills to join our team of senior midwives and lead one of our Birth Centre based continuity teams. You will have excellent clinical and communication skills, an ability to inspire and support staff and a strong belief in women and birthing people and their ability to give birth vaginally where possible. We strongly support the continuity agenda and so you may sometimes be expected to follow the woman or birthing person's journey to labour ward and so should feel confident in this area as well.
Please note: Applicants are required to hold a relevant degree and provide evidence of further professional development with significant previous experience in a range of midwifery settings and proven leadership capabilities.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the day to day co-ordination of Birth Centre acting as the key point of contact for staff, members of the multidisciplinary team and patients.
- Ensuring the 24 hour provision of a high quality, effective midwifery service, providing leadership to staff and expert clinical midwifery advice.
- Manage midwifery and support staff and the clinical area to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- As the lead professional for the area in partnership with women, plan and implement individualised midwifery-led care packages.
