Job summary

An opportunity has come up for a midwife to join our antenatal clinic team on a 12 month secondment.

The Senior Midwife in the Antenatal Clinic plays a key role in leading and supporting the provision of high-quality, evidence-based antenatal care to pregnant women. This role includes direct clinical care, leadership of midwifery teams, multidisciplinary collaboration, and contribution to service improvement and staff development.

Main duties of the job

Promote a friendly and welcome atmosphere for both team members and patients. Be courteous, helpful and supportive to patients and staff at all times maintaining the values and behaviours ethos within the Trust.

To co-ordinate the clinical activities within the antenatal clinic.

Participate in meeting government activity targets.

To inform the Midwifery Matron about conditions in the clinic and to ensure that appropriate use is made of midwifery and medical time. Plan and compile duty rotas to ensure appropriate use of midwifery resource.

Deputise for the antenatal Matron as required and support in the Leadership and management of the antenatal maternity services.

  • To create and maintain an effective communication system between all staff groups working in the maternity services and to ensure that a positive working environment is achieved.
  • To supervise the maintenance of stores and equipment and with due economy requisition supplies, repairs and replacement of equipment.
  • To ensure all members of staff make proper and economic use of equipment and supplies. To ensure that all necessary material resources are available for the day to day running of the clinic and allocate as appropriate.
