Day Assessment Midwife

Job summary

We have an opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our day assessment team.

The post holder will be a clearly identifiable and essential clinical member of the Maternity Day Assessment Unit, alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team. They will have significant clinical experience, provide sound clinical expertise to ensure delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate evidence based care.

As an NMC registrant they will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, be open, transparent and trustworthy and uphold the NMC Code of Conduct. They will facilitate the learning and development of others.

Main duties of the job

To provide maternal and fetal surveillance to women attending DAU in order to optimise maternal and fetal well being

To provide safe and women centred care in collaboration of other members of the multidisciplinary team and departments

To maintain a safe environment responding to emergencies

To provide direct, woman-centred care during the antenatal period; and have detailed clinical knowledge of this specialist area of Midwifery practice.

To work in partnership Maternal and fetal Medicine ensuring consistency and continuity of care for women with medically complex pregnancies.

  • Experience of working across a variety of midwifery settings

  • Experience specifically relating to working with high risk obstetric complications
  • Knowledge of pre-existing medical comorbidities that may affect their pregnancy care pathway
