Ward Nurse Treatment Centre - Band 6

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and adaptable individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can work well in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a kind and compassionate nurse who is keen to develop their leadership and management skills and support and lead a team in delivering high-quality care.

Treatment Centre is a busy day surgery unit, providing many surgical specialities including but not limited to: plastics, orthopaedics, trauma, colorectal, urology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, craniofacial and general surgery.

The post holder will be expected to lead a shift safely and effectively, deputise and take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the senior sister/unit co-ordinator. The post holder will provide clinical supervision to other members of staff, students and may undertake research and clinical audits in the unit.

1. Clinical:

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care through appropriate frameworks, including safe effective arrangements for nurse-led discharge, underpinned by Trust values.
  • To be competent in managing emergency situations.
  • Have sound knowledge of the perioperative environment and the needs of surgical patients pre and post-operatively.
  • Ensure the service continually improves to meet the needs of patients.
  • Assist members of the team in the co-ordination of the clinical activities.
  • Use clinical standards to participate in the process of monitoring the quality of care delivered. Act to ensure that nursing practice is of the highest standard, in line with Trust and CQC standards.
  • Supply and/or administer medication safely in line with Trust medicines policy.
