Job summary
Applications are invited for a permanent 10 PA ophthalmology consultant to The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust Department of Ophthalmology.
The post holder will be required to cover general ophthalmology. We seek an enthusiastic surgeon to enhance the current ophthalmic services and applicants should wish to be part of and develop the department in the future.
Main duties of the job
This position will clinically support the ophthalmology department and will be responsible for transforming the way in which we provide ophthalmology services at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital through application of Royal College and national recommendations such as Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) to deliver a sustainable and modern ophthalmology department.

Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by PMET/GMC by date if Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC))
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register OR eligible within 6 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee
- FRCOphth or equivalent
- Good understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council.
Desirable
- BSC or higher postgraduate training

- Evidence of broad-based training
- Sub-specialty training to fellowship level
- Evidence of teaching to meet the requirements of junior doctors and nurses
