Job summary
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Straight to Test (STT) Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Lung Cancer pathway, working cross-site but primarily based at West Middlesex Hospital. The Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated nurse to join the team.
The Lung Cancer Straight to Test (STT) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) functions within a field of practice that focuses on the needs of the patient and encompasses interaction with others in delivering nursing, health and social care.
The CNS promotes excellence in nursing practice through the integration of expert clinical practice, education, consultancy, acting as a resource and commitment to nursing research. The post holder will work closely with the Respiratory, Cancer Services and Diagnostics teams across the patient pathway.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to the on-going role in the development of the service for patients with suspected or confirmed lung cancer. This will include developing protocols; setting up; and running a variety of nurse led clinics (STT/non-STT/New/Follow-up/Cancer/non-Cancer/Face to Face/Virtual/Telephone/or other) for assessment and follow up care. The post holder will be the key professional involved in leading the triage assessment service which includes vetting referrals,telephone assessments and requesting appropriate investigations on this assessment.
The post holder will directly influence, support and contribute to key cancer performance metrics including 2 week wait (2WW) / urgent suspected cancer (USC), Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) and 62-day treatment.
