Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking nurse with an interest in developing their leadership skills to support, manage and lead a team of nurses to provide high quality patient care. We welcome application from nurses that have at least 18month's experience in an acute hospital setting at a band 6 level with a keen interest in acute care. Candidates will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to coordinate the care of patients across the multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of evidenced based care. They should have experience in organising complex discharges and working with community partners including the palliative care team.
Main duties of the job
- In collaboration with the Modern Matron, service manager & clinicians, the Ward Manager is responsible for the effective delivery of care given to patients within the clinical area.
- To provide professional leadership within the clinical area.
- To have 24-hr responsibility for his/her clinical area.
- The post holder will provide expert advice and take a lead in the development and implementation of shared practice protocols in line with national recommendations and standards where these are available.
- To reduce length of stay for patients ensuring pathways to support highest standard of care are in place.
- To achieve financial balance
