Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sister / Junior Manager role working within the Plastics Dressing Clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. We are an energetic friendly team looking for an experienced Burns/Plastics Nurse who is dynamic, supportive and flexible who can demonstrate confident leadership skills.
This is a very busy role seeing high volumes of patients. The post holder must be able to competently deal with competing clinical and managerial priorities and be calm and compassionate in their care of patients.
The post holder will need to possess relevant experience that demonstrates their suitability for the role and have a desire to develop their management and leadership skills. Appropriate support will be provided.
Informal visits are encouraged.
Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Outpatients Matron, the post holder is to be responsible for the effective delivery of care given to patients within the Plastics Dressing Clinic.
The post holder is responsible for the day to day operational management and clinical requirements of the clinics in the designated area.
To work alongside all members of the Outpatients multi-disciplinary team to ensure the clinics are run safely and effectively and escalating when required.
To develop patient care and service delivery in conjunction with the OPD Matron.
To anticipate the care needs of patients and actively manage the patient's journey by pro-actively participating in the care as part of the multidisciplinary team
To assist the Outpatients Senior/Sister Matron to deliver the Outpatients strategy.
To be a visible and supportive presence in the designated areas working clinically no less than 3 days out of 4.
To be a positive change agent and be proactive in the development of the clinic.
To deliver care in accordance with Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Conduct & Trust Policies

Support junior staff in their professional growth and development e.g. Band 5 nurses, student nurses, clinical support workers, health care assistants, return to practice and overseas nurses through mentoring, monitoring and assessing
Participate in the induction of new staff into the department in accordance with the Trust and local induction guidelines.
To supervise student nurses and Associate Nurse apprentices.

Ensure all equipment is regularly maintained and serviced. Supervise the programme of care and maintenance of equipment; keeping records of all servicing and maintenance.
Ensure staff are trained and competent to use all of the Outpatients equipment and appropriate specialist equipment and ensure records of staff competencies are maintained.
Demonstrate strong and effective leadership skills in the management of staff.
Maintain accurate written records of all procedures in the designated clinical area and be able to demonstrate that all documentation adheres to NMC & Trust guidelines.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of and applications of Trust Policies, guidelines and protocols.
Support the Senior Sister and Outpatients Matron and other relevant senior managers in the management of Outpatients.
Take responsibility for assigned tasks, ensuring completion, with support and guidance as necessary.
