Job summary

Our JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit at the Chelsea Site is a rewarding place to work. We are renowned for our friendly, innovative and supportive environment.

We provide a range of investigative and therapeutic endoscopy procedures in 4 modern, well equipped endoscopy rooms. We run a 7-day service including out of hours support to the Gastroenterology team for UGI bleeds.

The post holder will work as a team to deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures from pre-assessment, support in procedure rooms to recovery and discharge. We will provide the necessary support to ensure you develop the highly skilled endoscopy techniques.

We are looking for individual who is enthusiastic, confident and highly motivated with good communication skills. The post holder must enjoy working in a fast-paced innovative team environment.

To apply for this role you will need to have a substantial post qualifying experience in Endoscopy or post anaesthetic care recovery.

Main duties of the job

The Nurse will:

To manage and control resources required to provide a high quality endoscopy service.

To assist the endoscopists in performing interventional procedures such as ERCP, EUS, Bronchoscopy, Polypectomy, Stent insertions and dilations etc.

To support Endoscopy in maintaining the Joint advisory Group's (JAG) KPIs, guidelines and accreditation.

Participates in endoscopy oncall rota

To ensure that standards and waiting times are met in order to provide a quality service to patients, relatives and carers and are in accordance with Trust targets.

To ensure that Endoscopy lists are fully utilised and patients are prioritised according to local and national guidelines.

Ensuring that Health and safety Act, COSHH, HTM 2030 regulations and BSG decontamination guidelines are adhered to.

To establish an effective communication network with the multidisciplinary team as well as with patients, relatives and other departments.

To contribute to the Clinical Governance Agenda, ensuring all practice is evidence based and all practice is monitored by audit.To prepare/monitor staff rosters ensuring that this resource is being used efficiently, within the unit budget.

To regularly set the agenda based on information received via the nursing structure of departmental meetings to update staff on developments and information and discuss local and other relevant issues.
