An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent band 6 nurse within the Infection Prevention and Control team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join an established highly motivated and proactive team and will report to the IPC Lead nurse.
Now is the time for you to join our Infection Prevention and Control team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust who continue to be central to the COVID-19 response alongside the provision of practical support and expertise to staff, patients and visitors.
We are looking for an experienced nurse to join the IPC team based on the Chelsea and Westminster hospital site as a Band 6 associate nurse specialist. The candidate must have an interest in infection prevention and control or ideally have experience working as an IPC nurse or IPC link nurse however this is not essential.
The role will involve supporting the IPC annual programme and the candidate must have an ability to build effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders. You must have the ability to work on your own initiative undertaking the day to day management of your clinical work, to be able to work with complex information and be able to demonstrate an ability to work to tight timescales.
Main duties of the job
The Associate Nurse Specialist will contribute to the care and safety of patients, visitors and staff by leading on defined aspects of infection prevention and control.
The Associate Nurse Specialist should be educated to first degree level in a health related subject and should be undertaking appropriate post registration education and development within their area of infection and prevention control.
The role of the Associate Nurse Specialist includes the following supervised activities;
- Providing assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of infection control issues within defined guidelines and protocols
- Receiving referrals and advice from clinical/non clinical areas/staff
- Referring to and advising other disciplines and agencies
- Ordering and interpreting relevant tests and investigations
- Providing advice and guidance to nursing/midwifery & other disciplines
- Participating in the provision of training and education to own and other professions
- Monitoring standards of infection prevention and control
- Participating in audit, surveillance and research activity
- Disseminating good nursing practice at all times
- Ensuring effective communication between all teams
