Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.The Infection Prevention & Control Specialist Nurse is a professional leader with clinical expertise in the field of Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C). The post holder will, in conjunction with the lead Infection and Prevention and Control nurses, have responsibility for co-ordinating and developing a quality infection control service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist nursing advice, acting as a resource and role model to all staff, patients and visitors. The post holder shall support and enhance the Trust's established and developing services, ensuring compliance with the IP&C requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, NICE, UKHSA and essential standards for quality and safety.

The post holder will work as a specialist practitioner responsible for ensuring service delivery and supporting the implementation and evaluation of organisational programmes. The post holder will be required to operate flexibly within the Infection prevention and Control Team structure to ensure a comprehensive service is provided to the Trust.

The successful candidate must be able to provide good clinical leadership and possess excellent communication and teaching skills, challenging poor practice and promoting best practice. They will need to have an infection prevention and control qualification and/or experience along with a teaching or mentoring qualification.
